Movement Disorders
Evaluation and treatment are offered for a full range of movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease and related Parkinsonian syndromes, essential tremor, other tremor disorders, dystonia, restless leg syndrome, myoclonus, chorea, tardive dyskinesia, Tourette syndrome, Huntington disease, Wilson's disease, and spinocerebellar ataxias. Management of Parkinson's disease includes the latest medications as well as access to ongoing clinical trials. This program offers multidisciplinary evaluations including physical therapy, speech and swallowing therapy, behavioral health consultations, and occupational therapy. Botulinum toxin (Botox and others) therapy for dystonia is performed with electromyographic guidance. Evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of unusual movement disorders is supplemented by access to research in these areas. Click here for more information about Dr. Peter LeWitt's research.
Dr. LeWitt serves as director of the Movement Disorders fellowship program. A one- or two-year clinical fellowship program in movement disorder is offered. This program for neurology residency graduates is designed to provide the trainee with the full spectrum of diagnostic and therapeutic skills needed for the subspecialty clinical practice and an academic career.
