Janaki G. Patel, MD is Assistant Professor of Neurology. She joined the Department of Neurology at Wayne State University in 2024. She received her B.S. in Neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh and completed her medical education in New Jersey at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Patel completed her neurology residency at Wayne State University School of Medicine. She completed vascular neurology training at University of Michigan under the direction of Dawn Kleindorfer, MD and Devin Brown, MD, before returning to Wayne State.
Dr. Patel’s clinical interests include the treatment of stroke in young age, cardioembolic stroke, hypercoagulable states causing stroke, sickle cell disease, CNS vasculitis, and stroke etiology analysis.
She has a research focus on stroke epidemiology and racial disparities; and a focus in the use of interactive education models in teaching Neurology and Emergency Medicine physician trainees.
