AI & Innovations Initiative

Mission

The AI & Innovations Initiative is dedicated to advancing the Department of Neurology’s clinical, educational, administrative, and research missions by harnessing the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies. We aim to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and ethical integration of AI tools to improve patient care, enhance learning, support faculty and trainee development, and lead new avenues of research.

Objectives

  • Stay at the Forefront of AI Advancement

Monitor developments in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and related technologies, and disseminate key updates to the department through newsletters, faculty meetings, and other communication channels.

  • Pilot and Evaluate AI Tools

Test and assess AI-driven technologies, such as ambient clinical documentation tools, to enhance clinical efficiency, streamline workflow, and reduce physician burnout.

  • Collaborate Across Systems

Serve as a departmental liaison to the university-wide AI committee and hospital leadership, promoting cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional collaboration on AI initiatives.

  • Expand AI Education

Offer AI-focused educational sessions and resources for faculty, residents, and medical students, and develop a tiered AI curriculum to build digital fluency across all levels of training.

  • Support Innovation in Research

Initiate and facilitate research projects that explore the application of AI in clinical care, diagnostics, medical education, and healthcare delivery.

  • Promote Ethical and Responsible AI Integration

Ensure that the deployment of AI technologies aligns with ethical standards, enhances health equity, and prioritizes the well-being of patients and providers.
