The Wayne State University School of Medicine's Department of Neurology is one of the strongest in
the country. Physicians, researchers, patients, and philanthropists have joined forces to enhance our
ability to care for people, investigate underlying causes of disease, improve treatment options, and teach the next generation of neurologists. The field of neurology is incredibly diverse and its contributions to medical science are impressive.We are proud that the Department attracts the country's most acclaimed scientists and is one of the top recipients of neurology-based research grants. Objectives:
1. To discuss whether calcifications that occur in the brain may be the cause of neurological impairments.
2. To present the rationale for a novel treatment strategy using bisphophonates.
3. To present data to date on the types of neurological symptoms that respond.
