Narrative Bio

Dr. Khawaja serves as an Assistant Professor with Department of Neurology at Wayne State University.  He joined the department in 2019. He completed his residency in Neurology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital, and then went on to complete a fellowship at the combined neurocritical care program at Massachusetts General Hospital/Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA in 2018. He served as a postdoctoral research scholar at Brigham and Women's Hospital from 2018-2019 before joining the staff at WSU. He is board certified with the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (2016) and is Board Eligible with the United Council of Neurosciences for Neurocritical care. Dr. Khawaja will serve as a Neurohospitalist and consultant at Harper University Hospital and Karmanos Cancer Institute, and as a Neurohospitalist, consultant and Neurointensivist at Detroit Receiving Hospital.
