Epilepsy

The Comprehensive Epilepsy Program at Wayne State University and the Detroit Medical Center is designated as a Level Four Epilepsy Center by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC), and is dedicated to the care of people with epilepsy.

According to the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) guidelines, if seizures are not brought under control after three months of care by a primary care provider or after 12 months of treatment by a general neurologist, one should seek referral to a specialized epilepsy center with an epilepsy specialist. Our comprehensive epilepsy program provides state of the art medical and surgical treatment for adults and children with epilepsy. We offer a full complement of advanced diagnostic tests:

  • To establish seizure classification
  • To assess response to medical therapy
  • To evaluate patients for epilepsy surgery or other surgical methods including Vagus Nerve Stimulators and the Responsive Neurostimulation® System
